Families gather together for a historical study of one time period.
This guide contains twelve weeks of history plans based on the very first Americans. Before any explorers or settlers came, the Native Americans were here in America. Through the living books on the reading schedule, your child will learn about the different tribes of Native Americans and what areas they were geographically located in. They will learn how each tribe built their homes, hunted, cooked, made clothes and learn each tribe’s individual beliefs.
The time period covered is before 1000 A.D. for Form I students. All other forms focus on how the Native Americans lives changed, after the colonization of America. Keep in mind children in Forms II and above have already learned about the early explorers in America. You can find out more about Forms here.
The guide can be used with families who have been using Charlotte Mason’s methods for a while or just starting for the first time. The guide includes:
- Description of the Charlotte Mason methods used in this guide
- Gridded lesson overview for the entire term
- Printable booklist to take to the library or your favorite bookstore
- Instructions for how to calculate credits for a transcript
- Daily lesson plans that include all Forms on one page
The guide is designed with a four-day weekly schedule in mind since Charlotte Mason believed children should be outside for half of one day each week. This will also work perfectly for families who have a homeschool community to attend one day each week. Note that Form III and Form IV children will need to have a guide for both Ancient History and British History. You can find out more about the weekly history schedule for The Nourishing Feast here.
